CREATIVE MOVEMENT FOR KIDS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

(45 min) 4-6 years old.

The dance class will be adapted and catered to needs of the students themselves, based on each individual’s diagnosis and ability. Using a semi-structured curriculum based on the needs of each child, the focus of the class will be for the child to learn and understand appropriate body awareness, increase/strengthen sensory processing and integration, improve fine and gross motor functioning, implement social opportunities and explore creativity and self-expression through the art of dance. The class is an optional performance-based component, in which each child has the  option of dancing in an end-of-the-year recital if they choose to do so. This class will be taught by a licensed occupational therapist, whom has had education and experience in treating kids with special needs.

Dress code:  Children can wear any comfortable clothes or shoes they like to move in.
